Job Title: Database Systems Architect

We are looking for a Database Systems Architect whose primary responsibility will be for enterprise database architecture across the organization and ultimately responsible to the Director for all enterprise databases.

Responsibilities:
- Purview over logical and physical database design using the latest database technologies
- Approval of application data model changes, both during and after the development process
- Design and maintenance of tablespaces, object distribution across tablespaces, permissions on database objects, etc. so as to maximize database availability
- Production support and monitoring; scalability and capacity planning
- Familiarity with all senior DBA functions, such as installation, upgrades, performance tuning, and support of very large Oracle 9i and 10g databases (VLDB) on Linux, Solaris, and NT
- Shell scripting for the purpose of database maintenance; authoring of PL/SQL stored procedures
- Maintaining replicated databases in a high availability environment, including clustering
- Management of procedures for resolution of database errors / data corruptions

Skills:
- Proven track record in the design and implementation of large-scale, deployed databases, including clustered databases using Oracle RAC
- Ability to evaluate and approve data model changes in order to preserve production availability of databases
- Expert level of experience in performance tuning, query optimization, and PL/SQL
- First-hand understanding of IT processes such as change control and production release processes
- Extensive project management experience including system deployments, upgrades, scalability enhancements, and cluster implementation
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; proven ability for in technical report writing conveying in-depth technical topics to others
- Experience as a senior Database Administrator, including advanced concepts such as database replication and Very Large Database deployment and maintenance
- Extensive experience supporting OLTP and DSS databases in a 24x7 data center environment
- Solid knowledge of Oracle RDBMS (9i/10g) and Oracle RAC (9i/10g). Experience running both 9i and 10g RAC on the same physical cluster using OCFS/OCFS2. Experience migrating RAC databases from 32bit to 64bit Linux environment is a big plus
- In depth experience implementing and supporting Oracle Data Guard and Standby database environments
- Experience supporting databases running on Oracle ASM
- Hands on experience using Oracle RMAN to perform database backups, recovery, and database cloning
- Experience deploying Oracle Internet Directory for names resolution
- Experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control
- Microsoft SQL Server experience is desired
- Strong familiarity with the concepts of database software design and extensive working knowledge of the mechanics of large-scale database administration. Additionally, the candidate must have experience with the design and implementation of large clustered database environments
- A familiarity with the business considerations required for successful enterprise database management
- Minimum of 8 years of work experience in an database administration role

Skills as a plus:
- Several years of experience in both software development and database design and administration
- Prior supervisory or management experience
